The Wenatchee Valley is blessed with natural resources including the Columbia River, which provides affordable and renewable hydroelectric power for the people who live here and for visitors. A day trip to Rocky Reach Dam is fun and informative. Self-guided tours of the powerhouse include historical exhibits in the Museum of the Columbia, community art shows and displays that explain how clean, renewable hydroelectric power is generated. There is also the opportunity to see the giant generators at work from a walkway high above the powerhouse floor. Outdoors, there are acres of landscaped grounds with shady spots for picnicking, sunny lawns, a playground and geocaching. Rocky Reach Visitor Center is open daily, including weekends.
