2018 Royalty Candidate Information
The Candidates will be honored at a reception that is open to the public on Tuesday, January 9, at the Performing Arts Center, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, January 10, the Candidates will give a 2-3 minute speech in front of their peers. Student body votes count as 50% of the total Top 10 score. A panel of 3 out-of-town judge’s votes will count as the other 50% of the total Top 10 score. The candidates registered in the Eastmont School District will speak in the Eastmont High School Gymnasium at 7:45 a.m. The candidates registered in the Wenatchee School District will speak in the Wenatchee High School Auditorium at 10:00 am. The Top 10 Candidates will be announced that evening at 6:00 pm, in the Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee. All events are free and open to the public.
The 2018 Festival Queen and two Princesses will be chosen at the Royalty Selection Pageant, sponsored by Cashmere Valley Bank, on Saturday, February 10, at the Wenatchee High School Auditorium. Tickets go on sale Monday, January 15 at 9:00 am at the Festival Office at 2 S. Chelan Ave. The Queen will receive a $6,000 scholarship from the Wenatchee Applarians and the two Princesses will receive scholarships of $3,500 each. In addition, each of the other 7 Candidates not chosen to serve on the Royal Court will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Four additional $1,000 scholarships will be awarded on Pageant Night for the Community Involvement, Achievement, Congeniality, and Most Original Speech Awards.

Thank you for your interest in competing for the scholarships to be awarded for the 2018 Apple Blossom Festival. Our scholarship winners, the “Royalty” and “Top Ten,” are very important parts of the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival.
This manual is designed to help you as you prepare for the Top 10 Selection, the Pageant in February, and the reign of the 2018 Royalty. It contains Festival background information, schedules and speech materials, as well as other important data you should know.
