The 2019 Junior Royalty Essay Contest closed on Wednesday, February 20th.
February 27th all parents finalists will be contacted between 8 - 11 a.m.
March 5th all finalists will meet at Eastmont High School to write a 1 page essay on a different topic.
March 7th Junior Royalty will be announced at their schools.
For the 2018 Jr Royalty Process, we received 82 essays from Fifth Grade girls in the Wenatchee and Eastmont School Districts. A group of 11 finalists were chosen from the essays. A panel of educators within those districts narrowed the finalists down to the three Junior Royalty members after a second writing session and judging process.

Queen Rachel Carter
Queen Rachel is the daughter of Christopher and Rebecca Carter; she is a 5th grader in Mr. Lovercamp’s class at Valley Academy of Learning She has two brothers Will (9), Ming Ming (8) and two sisters, Juliette (6) and Elizabeth (4). Rachel enjoys playing soccer, piano, sewing and cooking. Her favorite TV show is “Doctor Who”, her favorite recording artist is Jamie Grace and her favorite movie is Wonder. Rachel's favorite song is “Home”, and her favorite book is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Rachel’s favorite thing to do in the Wenatchee Valley is going to Inspriations Café and creating art. Rachel would like to be a veterinarian when she grows up.
Princess Farrah Moody
Princess Farrah is the daughter of Kathy Moody and Mike Moody; she is a 5th grader at Sterling Middle School and has two brothers Alex (29), Nick (24) and one sister Joanie (35). Farrah enjoys attending school and rollerblading. Her favorite TV show is “Friends”, her favorite recording artist is Macklemore, Farrah’s favorite movie is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, her favorite song is “2 Heads” and her favorite book is The Unwanteds. Farrah’s favorite things to do in the Wenatchee Valley are shopping and riding horses, however her most favorite thing to do is draw. Farrah would like to be an art teacher when she grows up.
Princess Ava Smeller
Princess Ava is the daughter of Matt and Sarah Smeller; she is a 5th grader at Washington Elementary School and has one sister Natalie (9). Ava enjoys singing in her school choir and dancing on her Elite Team in jazz, hip-hop and lyrical. In her spare time, Ava attends church, and loves baking, reading, art and camping with her family. Ava’s favorite TV show is “Jessie”, her favorite recording artist is Sophia Carson, her favorite movie is The Greatest Showman, her favorite song is “Lost Boy”, and her favorite book is Are You There GOD? It’s Me Margaret, by Judy Blume. Ava’s favorite thing to do in the Wenatchee Valley, is camping at Confluence Park, hiking Saddlerock and picking apples in an orchard. Ava wants to be an actress or a teacher when she grows up.

Some of the activities the Junior Royalty will take part in include an etiquette session at Red Robin, attending a service club luncheon, touring Rocky Reach Dam and the Wenatchee Valley Museum with the “Senior” Royalty; riding in the Keyes Fibre Corporation Youth Parade on April 28; helping hand out Art 4 Kidz awards (sponsored by Costco & Washington Federal) at the Pepsi-Cola Youth Day on April 29, and carrying the lead banner in the Stemilt Growers Grand Parade on May 5. They will also attend the Oroville, Omak & Leavenworth Parades.
