MARY ANN CASTRO
2024 APPLARIAN CHANCELLOR
For as long as she can remember, Mary Ann looked forward to Apple Blossom time in the valley. She worked in her mother’s small family business, Anna’s Creations Bridal Boutique & Tuxedos, and learned first-hand of her mother’s love of community. In 2002, the boutique began supporting the festival by providing semi-formals for the royalty court. In 2009 they even provided the formal gowns worn by the royalty. Because of this personal connection, Mary Ann fell even more in love with the Apple Blossom Festival. Everyone involved with the festival was so excited and passionate that she knew she wanted to get involved too. Mary Ann noticed that the chaperones made “gown selection” fun for the girls, and this was the beginning of her desire to get involved. It was then that Mary Ann learned about the Wenatchee Applarians from Pat & Rolfe Ogle and since then, becoming a member of the Wenatchee Applarians has been an exciting and fulfilling experience for her. Mary Ann is proud to be stepping into the role of 2024 Applarian Chancellor and even more proud to be the first Mexican American Woman to hold this title. Mary Ann and her husband, Ignacio, joined the Wenatchee Applarians in September of 2013. Along with their two daughters, Annaleah and Arabella, the whole family is involved in helping with Apple Blossom. “Bringing my girls along teaches them the importance of supporting our community and how beautiful the Wenatchee Valley really is. We are so blessed to live in Washington!”
Mary Ann was born and raised in the Wenatchee Valley. She graduated from Wenatchee High School, Class of 1999. Mary Ann became a Licensed Cosmetologist in September of 2001, then returned to Wenatchee Valley College and graduated in the spring of 2018 with her AA and a certificate in Business and Accounting. Mary Ann works at St. Joseph Catholic School. When she isn’t working, she is coaching girls soccer, volunteering at her church, spending time with her family and helping her loved ones.
