You may enter this essay contest if you are:
A fifth grade girl
In the Wenatchee or Eastmont School District
In public, private, or homeschool
Below is a helpful timeline and overview of the Junior Royalty Program. If you have any questions, please contact the Festival Office at 509 662 3616.
January 31: Applications will be mailed to all fifth grade girls attending public, private, or homeschool in the Wenatchee or Eastmont School Districts. Please be sure your school district has your correct home address.
February 26: Junior Royalty essays and applications are due at the Festival Office by 3:00 pm.
Location: 2 South Chelan Avenue in Wenatchee, on the corner of Memorial Park, across from the Animal Hospital of Wenatchee and the Wenatchee Public Library.
Selection Process: The Junior Royalty Judging Committee will select a group of finalists based on the quality, originality, and overall presentation of the essays. Essays will be reviewed for grammar, spelling, creativity, and age appropriate writing. All decisions made by the committee are final.
March 6: Parents of the finalists will be contacted by 1:00 pm. If you do not receive a call by that time, your daughter was not selected as a finalist. Parents are welcome to contact the Festival Office with questions, but please do not contact your daughter’s school.
March 9: Finalists will meet to write a second essay of no more than one page on a new topic.
March 11: Parents of the selected Junior Royalty will be contacted the morning of the announcement. Winners are typically announced at each student’s school.
