Each year, senior girls from the Wenatchee and Eastmont School Districts have the opportunity to run for Apple Blossom Royalty.
After the applicant pool is narrowed to ten finalists, those candidates compete in the Royalty Selection Pageant each February. Through a detailed judging process that includes a panel interview, one-on-one interview, prepared speech, and impromptu question, five out-of-town judges select a Queen and two Princesses to reign over the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival.
The Queen receives a $10,000 scholarship provided by the Wenatchee Applarians, each Princess receives $5,000, and the remaining seven candidates each receive $1,000. Six local businesses also contribute an additional $4,000 in scholarships, bringing the total to more than $31,000 awarded on Pageant Night.
Following their coronation, the Royal Court proudly represents the Festival and the Wenatchee Valley at over 180 appearances between February and May, as well as at summer festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest.
